Press Secretary of HRH Prince El Hassan Bin Talal (Amman – Majlis El Hassan) To those of us who have watched the humanitarian crisis in Gaza grow more and more desperate over the past few months, the Israeli assault on the Territory was not unexpected. However, seeing of images of human anguish never fails to cause despair. Along with millions around the world, I beseech both Israel and Hamas to practice restraint, and call for the immediate cessation of violence by both parties. Press ReleasePrince El Hassan calls for redefining povertyInformation by: Marwan HamdanPress Secretary of HRH Prince El Hassan Bin Talal (Amman – Majlis El Hassan) HRH Prince El Hassan bin Talal on Tuesday (November 25, 2008) called for redefining poverty in terms of human wellbeing rather than in terms of dollars and cents.
In a keynote speech at the conference on “Politics and Religion” organized by “La Fondation Monaco Méditerranée” in Monaco, HRH said, “It's an economic crisis, yes; but at a deeper level it is also a spiritual crisis. By adopting the marketplace as our religion, we have forgotten who we are and why we are here on Earth. Reverence for life has been replaced with love of money and consumer goods. HRH said that possessiveness, greed, fear and apathy has led to poverty, crime, drug abuse, violence and war”.

Press Secretary of HRH Prince El Hassan Bin Talal (Amman – Majlis El Hassan)  At the universities of York and Durham last week, His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal addressed both the challenges and the opportunities currently facing the world and, in particular, the Middle East. At York, HRH specifically highlighted the regional nature of the problems and the need for a regional approach to include a social charter.
HRH delivered the inaugural King Hussein Memorial Lecture at Durham University on the theme of Cultural Dialogue. Prince El Hassan addressed a broad range of topics relevant to the contemporary human condition, ranging from questions of resources and risk, through to war and water. HRH Prince El Hassan Bin Talal on Tuesday (November 18, 2008) said the policy of the late French President General Charles de Gaulle placed the Arab world in the context of his vision for the future of relations between France and the developing world in general. President de Gaulle’s policy aimed at establishing new relations based on mutual respect, peoples’ right to self-determination and the re-establishment of French-Arab relations on the basis of geo-politics, history and mutual economic interests.
